Who We Are

Our History

College Boot Camp launched in October 2011. It grew out of the need of youth and their support groups needing to understand and conceptualize preparedness for college. Founder, Brigette R. LeBlanc, has delivered for four years an interactive academic summer program on college readiness at College for Teens, San Francisco City College. For two years she presented to youth and their families at UCSF “ youth in the house program” and a college readiness instructor for the summer youth Program at the Bayview YMCA. Ms. Le Blanc noticed that students were high achievers yet they were missing planning and management skills.

College Boot Camp prepares youth for life and students learn skills that will help them succeed in middle and high school. Not all students are college bond but they are all learning bound.

College Boot Camp’s first event took place in October 2011. The event attracted 45 students, they participated in six workshops: focusing on internships, careers in science and technology, writing personal statements, and understanding how the school board, financial aid offices and scholarships are geared towards assisting the students
